Endearing, Enduring, and Defining

What makes CrossFit so special?

People all around the world who aren’t accustomed to the box life ask this question every single day. What is it about performing functional movements at high intensity that causes people to be so passionate with making major life style changes? The answer is simple, CrossFit is endearing, enduring, and defining. These are some wise words from Owner and CEO Greg Glassman.

CrossFit is endearing. It becomes a part of your everyday life. The members, the coaches, the energy, you fall in love with it all. The relationship that you build with the community is so powerful that it continues to be a driving factor that draws you back in day in and day out.

Something that is endearing will last. Hence why CrossFit is enduring. You will endure the longest, most difficult workouts simply because you love it. In all of my years coaching, I have never heard a member say that they truly hate bettering themselves. Except for when we have to do burpees….I’m pretty sure we’ve all muttered some unreasonable thoughts to ourselves because of a 21-15-9 burpee and thruster workout. But in all serious, at the end of the day, if you’re feeling beat up from a workout, just remember that you endure it because you purely enjoy it.

When I see or hear negative people on the internet claim that CrossFit is a cult, I chuckle. If this is what a cult is then shoot, sign me up! You mean I’m surrounded by likeminded individuals who are constantly in the pursuit of greatness, and are willing to do whatever it takes to help me achieve my goals? Yeah, sign me up twice. When you join a CrossFit gym, you become defined. You become defined as a member of community. A close knit tribe who wants nothing better than to help you become a better version of yourself.
